A Baillieu Coalition Government will commit the $9.2 million needed to fund the final stage of works at Pembroke Secondary College, Kilsyth MP David Hodgett and Shadow Minister for Education Martin Dixon announced today.
The second and final stage of works will complete the Pembroke Secondary College Master Plan at the Senior Campus on Reay Road. These works will complete a revamp of the entire campus, including new class rooms, a gym and office and staff areas.
Mr Hodgett said Pembroke Secondary College was a wonderful school with dedicated teachers and staff, but unfortunately the Brumby Government had failed to provide the Stage 2 funding to complete the project.
“The school is operating out of a building site at the moment, and the school community needed the certainty and confidence that this project will be finished,” Mr Hodgett said.
“Today’s announcement shows the Coalition’s commitment to Mooroolbark and to providing the educational facilities our community deserves,” Mr Hodgett said.
Shadow Minister for Education Martin Dixon said a Baillieu Government will continue to support our local schools. “A Coalition Government is committed to ensuring Victorian schools are supported by way of delivering on exciting and necessary projects such as this,” Mr Dixon said. “The final stage of this project will give the Pembroke Secondary College Community a state of the art facility.”
Mr Dixon said David Hodgett had listened to the needs of the Pembroke school community and had fought hard to deliver the educational facilities our children deserve. He said the Baillieu Coalition Government will fund the project if elected at the state election on November 27.
