COALITION PLEDGES $5,000 TO CHIN COMMUNITY

A Baillieu Coalition Government has committed $5,000 to the Chin Community for a Cultural Celebration if elected.

Shadow Minister for Multicultural Affairs & Citizenship Nicholas Kotsiras MP joined local Liberal MPs David Hodgett and Ryan Smith for the announcement at Mooroolbark Baptist Church today.

“This funding will contribute to a Community Cultural celebration in 2011 and will be a great boost to the local Chin community,” Mr Kotsiras said.

“This is an exciting announcement for our local Chin community,” Mr Hodgett said.

“I have worked with the Chin community over a number of years, assisting in a number of local areas, and I am very pleased that this funding will support a community celebration to showcase the Chin culture.”

Mr Smith said the Coalition is very supportive of cultural events. “The Chin community makes a tremendous contribution to our local community and I personally will be very excited to attend the festival.”
