COALITION PLEDGE FOR TRAFFIC LIGHTS AT CAMBRIDGE ROAD AND SWANSEA ROAD, MONTROSE
Traffic lights at the intersection of Cambridge and Swansea Roads will be built under a Coalition Government, Liberal MP David Hodgett announced today.
A Baillieu Coalition Government will spend $400,000 to construct the lights, which will alleviate peak hour traffic congestion.
“I have received overwhelming feedback from local residents that this is a major traffic issue. Cambridge Road turns into a bottleneck where it meets Swansea and traffic routinely banks right back up the hill,” Mr Hodgett said.
“I am now proud to announce that if elected on November 27th, a Baillieu Coalition Government will immediately fund the works, giving local motorists a safe and easy exit out onto Swansea Road,” Mr Hodgett said.
“Those who use that intersection at peak hour will attest to the traffic issues the lack of lights cause. This upgrade will improve safety and enhance traffic management for local motorists travelling along both Cambridge and Swansea Roads,” Mr Hodgett said.
“This has been a great source of frustration to local residents for some time,” Mr Hodgett said, “and I am delighted my representations have resulted in a $400,000 commitment from the Coalition.”
