COALITION PLEDGE TO RIGHT TURN ARROW AT EASTFIELD ROAD AND BAYSWATER ROAD

A right turn arrow at the intersection of Eastfield and Bayswater roads will get built under a Coalition Government, Liberal MP David Hodgett announced today.

A Baillieu Coalition Government will spend $100,000 to construct the right turn arrow, which has been lobbied for by local residents.

“I have received overwhelming feedback from local residents that this is a major traffic issue. People cannot understand why three of the four roads leading into the intersection have turning arrows, but the right turn from Eastfield Road into Bayswater Road does not,” Mr Hodgett said.

“I am now proud to announce that if elected on November 27th, a Baillieu Coalition Government will immediately fund the works, ending the traffic nightmare that local residents face every day,” Mr Hodgett said.

“Those who use that intersection at peak hour will attest to the traffic issues the lack of a right turn arrow causes, and this upgrade will be of great benefit to local motorists and commuters, as well as the many businesses that operate in the area,” Mr Hodgett said.

Mr Hodgett has lobbied the State Government in recent years, including circulating petitions and direct contact with the Minister.

“This has been a major issue for the local residents who have fought hard to have this traffic concern addressed,” Mr Hodgett said. “This will be a major win for those residents, and will substantially improve traffic flow through the area, easing peak hour traffic congestion at this busy intersection.”
