COALITION COMMIT $250,000 TO UPGRADE OF MOOROOLBARK POLICE STATION
Kilsyth MP David Hodgett and Shadow Minister for Police and Emergency Services Peter Ryan today announced that if elected a Coalition Government will spend $250,000 to upgrade Mooroolbark Police Station.
Mooroolbark Police Station is an older facility in much need of an upgrade, and this funding will address several major concerns which affect the operation of the station.
Mr Hodgett said that local residents were indicating that law and order is a major concern.
“The lack of police resources in our area is being reflected in the attitude of local residents that hooning, graffiti and vandalism in our streets are major problems. Our police are working hard, but they are not being supported by the Brumby Government,” Mr Hodgett said.
“Mooroolbark Police Station is a perfect example of this. The facilities are completely outdated. The female officer’s change rooms are currently in a separate building out the back with an uncovered walkway, and former cells are being used for storage,” Mr Hodgett said.
Mr Hodgett and Mr Ryan said that a Baillieu Coalition Government would support local police.
“A Coalition Government will help support local police with this $250,000 facility upgrade to Mooroolbark Police Station, and will also introduce 2640 new police officers to help support our understaffed stations,” Mr Ryan said.
“This will mean 1600 more front line police and also ensure a police officer is on every train station from 6pm until last train, 7 days a week,” Mr Ryan said.
This will be a great boost for our local police officers, and shows the Coalition is serious about fixing crime problems in Mooroolbark and around Victoria, Mr Hodgett said.
