COALITION PLEDGES TO BUILD TRAFFIC LIGHTS AT MAJOR MONTROSE INTERSECTION
A Liberal Nationals Government will spend $800,000 to build traffic lights at the Mt Dandenong Tourist Road, Montrose Road and Swansea Road intersection in Montrose, Local MP David Hodgett, Monbulk Candidate and Shadow Minister for Roads Terry Mulder announced today.
“A Coalition Government will provide $800,000 for traffic signals at the Montrose intersection,” Mr Mulder said.
Mr Hodgett said it was a great win for local road users who currently had to deal with severe traffic congestion when negotiating the roundabout at peak periods.
“Peak hour weekday traffic has risen through the area in the last few years,” Mr Hodgett said.
“Many local residents have approached me complaining about the difficulty of negotiating the roundabout at busier times of the day, especially school pick up and drop off at the nearby Montrose Primary School.”
“Traffic lights will provide a more predictable traffic flow for both local residents and visitors accessing the Mt Dandenong Tourist Road,” Mr Mills said.
Mr Hodgett said this announcement further highlighted the Coalitions commitment to easing local traffic congestion. “I have committed to constructing lights at the Montrose roundabout, as well as at the corner of Swansea Road and Cambridge Road,” Mr Hodgett said. “These initiatives will significantly improve the safety of motorists and ease peak hour traffic congestion at these busy intersections.”
