A Liberal Nationals Government will spend $800,000 to build traffic and pedestrian lights at the dangerous intersection of Hull, Cardigan Road and Brice Avenue in Mooroolbark, Kilsyth MP David Hodgett announced today.
“A Coalition Government will provide $800,000 to the upgrade of this busy intersection,” Mr Hodgett said.
Mr Hodgett said that the new traffic lights would reduce driver frustration and increase both driver and pedestrian safety.
“The message I am constantly hearing from local residents is that this intersection is a nightmare at peak times. There is no safe place to cross Hull Road when working to and from the shops and public transport.”
“This is an important local project that will be of huge benefit to Mooroolbark Road users,” Mr Hodgett said.
“This has been a trouble intersection for a long time, and local motorists know the frustration of trying to get out of Brice Avenue or Cardigan Road at peak times,” Mr Hodgett said.
“Hull Road is also a notorious trouble spot for pedestrians, and these works will result in a pedestrian crossing at the road, as well as Brice Avenue and Cardigan Road.”
“This funding, along with the several other road announcements I have made in the Yarra Ranges, shows the Coalition’s commitment to ensuring that urgent road upgrades in the Yarra Ranges are completed, meaning safer roads and less congestion,” Mr Hodgett said.
