$22 MILLION FOR MAROONDAH HOSPITAL IN BAILLIEU STATE BUDGET

Wednesday, 4th May 2011 for immediate release

Maroondah Hospital will get a $22 million boost from the first Baillieu State Budget, Kilsyth MP David Hodgett announced today.

The $22 million expansion will provide a 16 bed critical care unit and a new 22 bed ward. This includes 6 new critical care beds.

“This is fantastic news for the Maroondah community, and shows that the Baillieu Government is committed to improving health services across Victoria,” David Hodgett said.

“Maroondah Hospital caters for a huge demand in the outer east, and these new beds and new wards will help ensure faster treatment and a high level of care.”

This funding is part of a $60 billion health and aged care package by the Coalition Government over the next four years.

This includes 800 new hospital beds with 100 new beds delivered over the next 12 months.

The Coalition will also invest $13 billion in expanding Victoria’s health service capacity, as unveiled in yesterday’s 2011/12 State Budget.

“Health is an absolute non negotiable and the Baillieu Government is committed to improving health services right across the board,” Mr Hodgett said.

“This $22 million expansion of Maroondah Hospital shows this government is serious about giving Maroondah residents, as well as all Victorians, access to the very best in health services.”
